1. Scope
This Billing & Refund Policy governs billing, subscriptions, trials, taxes, cancellation, and refunds for Stockoscope Pty Ltd (“Stockoscope”, “we”, “us”), and forms part of our Terms of Service. Nothing on this page narrows any right you have under the consumer law of your country of residence.
2. Plans, Billing, and Taxes
Stockoscope offers a paid Pro plan, with a free trial for new accounts (no card required to begin the trial). Current plans, prices, billing cycles, trials, and any promotional offers are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. This policy applies to paid charges; a free trial has no charge and no refund window.
- Billing. Paid fees are charged in advance for the billing period you choose (monthly or annual) and auto-renew at the then-current price until you cancel.
- Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe under Stripe’s own terms. We do not store your full card number; we retain only limited details (card brand, last four digits, expiry, billing country) for renewals, fraud prevention, and support.
- Taxes. Prices are shown exclusive of tax. Any applicable taxes (such as GST or VAT) are calculated and added at checkout by Stripe based on your location, so the total charged may be higher than the headline price.
- Price changes. We give at least 30 days’ notice of any price change by email and in-app notice; new prices apply to billing periods starting after the notice period, and you can cancel before a change takes effect.
3. The Free Trial
New accounts can start a full-access trial of Stockoscope. The standard trial is 14 days; accounts created during our launch (Founding) period get a longer trial. The current trial length and the Founding window are shown at sign-up and on the pricing page. The trial is free, no credit card is required to begin it, and no charge is made during the trial period.
- If you do nothing at the end of the trial, no charge is made and your account moves to our permanent Free plan. You keep your account and watchlist, and on Free you can browse all stocks, read the blog, read News on any stock with no limit, view the public sample (AAPL) analysis, use the Simple screener, keep one watchlist of up to 10 stocks, preview the Investment Strategies builders, and open the full 7-page 5D analysis (including its summary image exports) for three stocks each calendar month. Pro unlocks the full 5D Framework across more than 3,000 US-listed stocks, the advanced screener and preset screens, the full Investment Strategies builders, and larger watchlists. See our pricing page for the full comparison.
- If you upgrade to a paid plan during or at the end of the trial, your card is charged on the day you upgrade. The 14-day refund window described in section 4 starts from the date of that first paid charge, not from the date your trial began.
- If you cancel during the trial, no charge is made and no refund is due, because no money has changed hands.
4. The 14-Day Refund Window
After your first paid charge for a Stockoscope subscription (whether monthly, standard annual, or inaugural annual), you have 14 calendar days from the date of that charge to request a full refund of that charge. If you ask within the window, we will:
- refund the full amount you paid for that billing period;
- refund to the original payment method via Stripe (settlement times vary by issuer, typically 5-10 business days);
- end your paid access at the time the refund is processed (your account reverts to the Free plan described in section 3);
- retain your account and watchlists so you can return later if you choose.
The 14-day window covers your first paid charge for a given plan. It is not re-triggered by every renewal. See section 5 for how renewals are handled.
4.1 How to Request a Refund
Email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject line “Refund request”. We aim to acknowledge within one business day and process the refund within five business days of acknowledgment.
5. Renewals and Mid-Cycle Cancellations
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan. To stop the next renewal, cancel before the renewal date. The easiest way is from the Stripe Customer Portal (see section 7).
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period. You keep paid access until that date and are not billed again.
- We do not provide partial-period refunds for mid-cycle cancellations outside the 14-day window in section 4 or where required by applicable consumer law. You keep access for the period you have already paid for.
- Annual renewals. We send a reminder before each annual renewal. If a charge for a renewal lands and you contact us within 14 days of that renewal charge to cancel, we will refund the renewal charge and end paid access at the time the refund is processed. This goodwill window is offered specifically to avoid surprise annual charges and is not a separate statutory right.
6. Promotional and Founding Pricing
From time to time we offer promotional or Founding pricing (for example, a discounted annual rate for early subscribers). The terms of any current offer (the rate, who qualifies, the offer window, and how long the rate is locked before it renews at the standard price) are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. The 14-day refund window in section 4 applies to your first charge at a promotional rate, and we send a reminder before each annual renewal.
7. Canceling Through the Stripe Customer Portal
Active subscribers can cancel at any time, with no email or conversation required:
- Sign in to your Stockoscope account.
- Open Account → Billing.
- Click Manage subscription to open the Stripe Customer Portal.
- Choose Cancel plan. Your access continues until the end of the current paid period.
From the same portal you can update your payment method, download invoices, and switch between monthly and annual billing. Cycle changes are prorated by Stripe.
8. Statutory Cooling-Off Rights
Consumers in some jurisdictions (for example, the EU and UK) have a statutory cooling-off or withdrawal right when buying online. Our 14-day money-back guarantee in section 4 already gives every subscriber a full refund within 14 days of the first charge, so it meets or exceeds those rights. Nothing here affects any statutory right you have where you live; to exercise one, email [email protected] before the applicable period ends.
9. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this Refund Policy excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) that cannot be excluded. Where we are entitled to limit our liability for breach of a non-excludable consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to (at our option) supplying the Service again or refunding the price you paid for that service. See the limitation-of-liability section of our Terms of Service for the full clause.
10. Discretionary (Goodwill) Refunds
Outside the windows described above, we may grant discretionary refunds in exceptional circumstances, including:
- duplicate charges or billing errors;
- extended Service unavailability that materially affected your use of a paid feature;
- a charge made after a confirmed cancellation due to an administrative error on our part.
These are handled case-by-case and do not create a general right to a refund outside the 14-day window in section 4.
11. What Is Not Refundable
- Charges older than the applicable refund window (section 4 / 5 / 8), except where required by consumer law or granted as a goodwill refund under section 10.
- Subscriptions purchased through a third party (e.g., gift codes, partner offers). Those are governed by the issuing party’s refund terms; please contact that party first.
- Any portion of a paid period after a mid-cycle cancellation made outside a refund window (you retain access for that period instead).
12. Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first at [email protected]. We can almost always resolve a billing issue faster than a chargeback. Filing a chargeback without first contacting us may result in your account being suspended pending resolution.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our plans, payment processor, or applicable law. The “Last Updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app notice. Refunds will always be assessed under the version of this policy in force at the time of your charge.
